Why Boomers Don’t See Aging
Human development can be likened to a series of lockers, each representing a different stage in life. These lockers, filled with age-related expectations and experiences, shape individuals as they progress through their early years. However, the lockers don’t end with childhood; they continue throughout life, evolving with each successive physical environment and holding the remnants of past eras. This article explores the significance of these lockers, the generational differences they represent, and the need for dialogue and understanding as individuals approach older age.
The Lockers of Life
From childhood to adulthood, each year brings a new locker filled with expectations and milestones. In fourth grade, it might be the locker of innocent humor and dick jokes, while in sixth grade, it represents the responsibilities of school patrolling. Eighth grade introduces the locker of discovering the opposite sex, and tenth grade brings academic awareness. These lockers shape individuals’ experiences, providing them with a framework to navigate the world around them.
Beyond Childhood Lockers
